Scope:

This Special Interest Group (SIG) supports Michigan Adult ESL teachers and administrators by encouraging and promoting communication, information-sharing, research, publication and awareness of Adult level English as a second language and bilingual learners, in any setting in which they may be learning English.;

 

Purpose:

The Adult SIG provides venues for teachers, supervisors, advisors and administrators to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and im prove the quality of ESL education in the members' institutions.


Activities:

  • The SIG listserv is a forum for discussing our profession. The SIG representative uses the listserv to share news and information from the SIG, MITESOL, and TESOL. To join the listserv, please contact the SIG representative.
  • SIG-sponsored sessions at the annual MITESOL conference.
  • Annual general meeting and informal discussion sessions at the MITESOL conference.
  • Member-initiated projects.
  • Workshops and colloquia during the year.

 

Membership Participation:

Members are encouraged to participate in the SIG by:

  • sending questions and answers to the SIG listserv
  • sharing resources, ideas, and lesson plans
  • proposing SIG-sponsored sessions for the annual MITESOL Conferences
  • suggesting and leading projects, workshops and colloquia

Elections to this position are held every two years at the MITESOL conference. Please contact the current representative if you are interested in serving in this position.
